Leigh and I and our neighbor Roberta were invited by Jim and Nancy of Stephen's Backpacks to join them as they partnered with TransCanada Pipeline to bless the Siksika Nation.
Siksika Nation was devastated by the flood in June 2013. Three hundred families were forced to evacuate their homes and haven't been able to return since. They are living in hotels, with family and friends and in ATCO trailers.
TransCanada Pipeline bought $50,000 worth of bedding and towels to donate to the Siksika Nation evacuees.
We worked alongside Jim and Nancy, and Roberta, Siksika volunteers and 60 volunteers from TransCanada, at the Siksika Community Center to unpack, assemble, package and distribute sheets, towels and blankets.
The volunteers worked very hard and the people from Siksika were blessed by TransCanada's generosity and the volunteers hard work.
The people of Siksika shared their stories with us and helped us to see how hard their situation is. They still need plenty of help as they struggle to rebuild their lives.
